Pentacom in Germany is working on a new social media strategy to enable it to be flexible and have a constant presence on the internet.
While their traditional PR business continues they have also created a company profile on Facebook, which they then turned into a fanpage. They also created profiles on Twitter and Pinterest, and an Instagram profile is about to be launched. Launched in October 2013 Pentacom updates its corporate blog, once a week since at the same time. They are selective in what they post – only that which they find interesting make it – trends, trips, design and visits to fairs and exhibitions.
For Pentacom content is king. “It’s all about creating quality content rather than reaching thousands of people who may not be interested in what we have to say.” said Annekathrin Koch. “Our aim is to create a ‘net’ where all our profiles are connected. Through this we want to show trends and discoveries that are stimulating and possibly surprising. We’ll act as an aggregator for those facts and figures that are out there but are not easy to track down.”
Discoveries Trends was launched in 2010 and, without any promotion has 615 fans. They are planning activities to increase this number. Previously it was outsourced but is now managed in-house and can also be found on Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram.
Pentacom still organises its Discoveries Live pop-up events throughout Germany. This imaginative idea helps companies to expand their businesses and gain attention among the German media. The first one was held in 1997 and for Pentacom it has been a true success story as the PR and marketing firm celebrates its 21st Discoveries Live on May 5 in Hamburg.
